tony’s Approach

Tony set up his One2One Mentoring Service in 2009. Over the last 10 years, he has worked with hundreds of Students from a wide variety of secondary schools and backgrounds. Tony saw the need for a service like this as far back as his early years as a Teacher. He felt that Students could do with help and support in relation to their lives outside of School.

Mentoring Students to Provide a Work Life Balance

As every Student’s life is different, he recognised that this would require one to one interaction. Secondary School Life is just far too busy to be able to provide such a service. Tony has always been passionate about working with Students. It has always been an ambition of his to set up a One2One Mentoring Service for Secondary School Students to help them realise their potential in all aspects of their lives.

He has received great feedback from the Students (and their Parents) he has worked with as can be seen from his testimonials. As far as Tony is concerned, it is all about the ‘process’. A huge focus is put on planning. Every effort is made to bring real structure to each student’s life outside of school. A very important part of this is including adequate time for Sporting/Leisure Activities. A good balance between ‘Work’ and ‘Play’ is essential. Every student that Tony works with has a definite daily timetable for doing his/her homework, study & revision which caters for their individual needs. Preparing Teachers for Interview

Tony has a huge amount of experience of the interview process for positions of Teacher, Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal and Principal in both the Secondary & Primary Sectors. As part of his role as Chairperson of the Board of Management in a large Secondary School, he chairs many of their Interview Panels for Teacher, Middle & Senior Management positions. He set up his service for helping candidates prepare for Interview 5 years ago.

He has very strong views on how to prepare for and perform at Interview. Candidates benefit from his vast experience in the area through the course of the sessions with him. His aim for each candidate he works with is for them to reach the point where answers flow in a very natural and genuine way at the Interview. His objective for each candidate is not that he/she gets the position in question. It is more about being able to say ‘It couldn’t have gone better and I couldn’t have done anymore’ when they come out from the Interview. This then gives them the best chance of being appointed.
